I am really feeling guilty over the lack of Halloween goodies here right now. Halloween is getting bigger in the UK, but it hasn’t nearly reached American heights yet, and I’m not sure it will. I think the girls love Halloween just as much as I do, and we’re all feeling the lack of Halloween parties and trick or treating. No one has boo’d us (it’s doubtful they could even if we knew anyone who knew what that was!) and we’re just feeling in a funk during one of our favorite times of the year. I went a little crazy today making candy buckets to surprise the girls with tomorrow and have added some last minute decor to help create a fun Halloween evening for us all. I couldn’t pass up the chance to make some black Felt Halloween Flowers to add a little Halloween elegance to our mantel.
- Cricut Maker
- black felt
- felt glue
- floral wire
- floral tape
- black paint
- black lace
I used Rose #MC8B7E1 from Design Space for my flowers. I removed the leaves and just used the flowers themselves.
Carefully pull the cut felt off the mat. Roll the flowers and glue the bottom on with felt glue.
When the glue is dry, carefully poke a small hole in the bottom. I just used my weeding tool!
Stick the floral wire through the hole. If you have jewelry pliers, you can use those to gently twist the bit inside the flower. I honestly just used my hands because I don’t have all of my supplies! I also bent the bottom of the wire up at a different height for each flower.
Wrap each wire in the floral tape. Make sure you wrap it up to the very bottom of the flower.
To display my Felt Halloween Flowers, I used a champagne flute. It was a defective glass that I got for super cheap, but suited this project perfectly. Paint the inside of the glass with black paint.
When the paint is dry, stuff some black lace inside. When you’ve reached the top, arrange your flowers inside and cuff the top of the glass.
It’s a great little Halloween touch, isn’t it? I think I’m going to have many more Felt Halloween Flowers next year! They’re easy to make and add a bit of fun elegance to your Halloween decor.
