A Day in Chicago

I am such a city girl. We live in the suburbs of Chicago now and while I love our house and city, I have been rather desperate to explore Chicago. We've gone into the city quite a few times as a family, but mostly to a particular destination. I've wanted to just wander and get a feel for it. Scott has gotten to know it quite well since he works there, and I will admit that I'm quite jealous of that. I had been attempting to make my peace with knowing it wasn't going to be possible for me for a ... Read More

Maternity Style, or a Lack Thereof

I'm in the home stretch of this pregnancy at almost 32 weeks and have realized that I haven't done so many things that I had intended to do for my next pregnancy. I didn't come up with an awesome pregnancy announcement. I haven't done weekly progression pictures. I really haven't documented it well at all anywhere other than to talk a little bit about my high risk journey. The truth is, I don't feel pretty when I'm pregnant. I promise I'm not fishing for compliments. I spend so much time not ... Read More

Matilda’s Nursery: the Start

I love decorating. Have you figured that out about me yet? I'm moving at a snail's pace with the house, but it's coming together and I love it. I don't have a single space that I would call near finished, but there are some corners that are really making me happy. My theme for the entire house has been "happy". I know I've talked about this before and if you follow me on instagram, you'll see me post pictures of my happy corners. You'll also see me post peeks of items that are in the process of ... Maternity Style at SNAP!

I don't feel pretty when I'm pregnant. I feel swollen and huge and like I have to give up what little style I have. I was uber nervous about going to a conference that was going to be full of stylish women (yes, I play that stupid comparison game). I both totally stressed about it and waited until the last minute to figure anything out. I apologize in advance for my pictures. Clearly, the right thing to do was to take blurry selfies in a hotel room mirror while I was at a place full of ... Read More

Vintage Inspired

I have always loved a good murder mystery and Agatha Christie is right at the top. I love the mysteries themselves, but I absolutely adore that time period and the look of the characters. I think the clothes of that time are gorgeous and flattering. Timeless, really. People often identify with a time period of clothing, and this is mine. I've talked about my goal to dress better regularly. I'm also making it a goal to wear a dress once a week. When I worked full time, I wore dresses and ... Read More

Welcome

about me

I’ve wanted to be an archaeologist, in theatre, a judge, and to run a museum. While I try to decide what I want to be when I grow up, I spend my time crafting and exploring the world. Read More…
