Spring Bouquet Felt and Bead Ornament

I’m a big fan of making ornaments year-round. I keep a tree in my office and it almost always has seasonal fun hanging from it. When I had the opportunity to play with the latests Buttons Galore and More BGM Box, I immediately knew that this pack of sequins and beads was going to go on a felt ornament. This spring bouquet felt and bead ornament uses basic stitching and is a really pretty way to brighten your spring decor.

Supplies:

  • BGM Box (flowers)–I used the Popz embellishments and the flower shaped container
  • cream felt (mine is from Benzie Design)
  • matching embroidery floss (I used DMC Ecru)
  • green embroidery floss (I used DMC 3347)
  • Poly-fil Fiber Fill
  • small embroidery needle (it needs to fit through the beads)
  • scissors
  • fabric washable or erasable pen or pencil

Directions:

Trace the flower shaped container twice with the fabric marking pen.

Cut out the felt flowers. If the pen marks still show up, follow the directions of the pen to erase them, or simply have those sides facing each other so they can’t be seen.

Using the Popz Embellishments, start stitching flowers onto one piece of felt. Use one strand of the matching floss and layer the sequins and beads to create different combinations of flowers. Stitch up from the bottom through all of the pieces, stitch to one side, go back through the middle, and stitch to another side.

Continue stitching different combinations of sequins and beads in a rough bouquet shape. Fill in gaps with single sequins.

When you’re happy with the amount of flowers, take the green floss (using two strands this time) and stitch a simple stem. I filled in a few spaces in the bouquet with some green as well.

Take the second piece of felt and line it up against the stitched piece. Using the matching floss (two strands), use simple stitches to follow the shape and close up the flower. When there are two petals left, put a bit of Poly-fil inside. Don’t overstuff it. Finish stitching the edge and neatly tie and trim the floss.

Make a simple loop at the top using the matching floss (or something fun if you want, but I liked the simplicity of using the floss because I felt it let the bouquet pop more).

I really love how this spring bouquet felt and bead ornament turned out. It’s so pretty when the flowers catch the light!
