Fall Button Hoop Art

Time and time again, I go back to making hoop art for my comfort crafting. And, as we all know, my favorite comfort crafting time is fall. When I saw the gorgeous fall goodness in the Harvest BGM Box, I knew that I would be making some fall button hoop art. Sunflowers and pumpkins and sparkles…what’s not to love?!

Supplies:

  • BGM Box items Pumpkin Harvest buttons, Fall Friends buttons, Sparkletz, and Box Exclusive Assortment
  • cream felt
  • brown paint
  • paint brush
  • cream thread (ECRU matched my felt perfectly)
  • DMC 4045
  • needle

Directions:

Paint the outside of each hoop brown. I did this later in the project, but it would be easier to do it first. Allow to dry.

Cut three pieces out of the felt to fit the hoops.

Stitch (or glue) the pumpkin, sunflower, and leaf buttons where you’d like them to be.

Add stem and vine detailing with DMC 4045. I freehanded everything, but you can trace outlines with a washable fabric marker if you’d rather. Just make sure you rinse out the marks when you’re finished. I also debated whether to fill in the leaves on the sunflower stems–in the end, do what makes you happy with this project!

Stitch and/or glue additional bead and sparkle embellishments onto your felt. I stitched the beads and glued the other embellishments.

Trim excess felt and finish the back using your favorite method (I actually left mine alone for this one because it felt secure and I couldn’t see through it). I enjoyed creating this fall button hoop art. The BGM buttons and embellishments were perfect for this project and I love the final look!
