Loopy Yarn Halloween Ghost Tassel Wreath

I have found myself making bases for wreaths without knowing how they’ll end up. I recently made a stack of loopy yarn wreaths that were nothing but the yarn so that they were ready to go when inspiration struck. While it was nice at the time to feel like I was doing something without really doing anything, I then ended up with a stack of wreaths that needed help. This Halloween ghost tassel wreath is one that got the help it needed. It’s a fun and customizable make and will help you feel creative even when you’re not overly feeling it.

Supplies:

• 12″ foam wreath
• black loopy yarn
• straight pins
• purple fairy lights
• glow in the dark yarn (you can also use white yarn)
• tray/plate/piece of cardboard–something to wrap your ghost tassel around (my tray was 8″ long)
• black felt
• scissors
• glue

Directions:

Take a straight pin and pin one end of the yarn directly into the wreath form. Loop the yarn around the form until it is completely covered. Take another pin and secure the end of the yarn.

Tuck the battery pack of the lights through a couple of loops on the back of the wreath. Weave the fairy lights through the front and sides of the wreath. I went through the yarn loops and had the lights turned on so that I could see the placement better.

Grab the yarn for your ghost! I chose a glow in the dark yarn but you can absolutely use something else.

Wrap the yarn around your tray/cardboard/whatever. I used most of the yarn–I wanted it thick. You obviously can make it whatever size you want! I have another tutorial on how to make a jumbo tassel that uses cardboard.

Tie a piece of yarn tightly around the “top” of the tassel. Cut the bottom once the top is secure.

Cut another piece of yarn and tie a “bump” into the tassel.

I freehanded the eyes and mouth of the ghost–I just cut them out of a scrap of black felt and then glued them onto the “face”.

Attach the ghost to the wreath by using another piece of yarn and just tying it to the front of the wreath through the back of the head. I used a few loops to make it more secure. You can put the ghost anywhere–he can even dangle through the center.

Make a pretty light pink cottagecore ghost! While I really like my glow in the dark ghost, it’s difficult to photograph so you’ll just have to take my word for it. However you make it, this is a super cute wreath!
