Summer Button Layered Wreath

I’ve gotten a lot better at managing my craft supply stash. It used to feel really out of control, but after a rather ruthless culling of supplies that I simply wasn’t likely to use and being more deliberate with what I bring into my space, I’m in a much better position in so many ways. It’s freeing and I find that I have more inspiration and actually use more of what I already have. This gorgeous yarn was hiding and was perfectly matched with these buttons from the latest BGM Box. I love how well they work together and the end result is this cheerful summer button layered wreath.

Supplies:

  • Two styrofoam wreath forms of different sizes—it doesn’t matter as long as one can fit inside the other (I used a 12” and 6”)
  • Multicolored yarn (I used Universal Yarn Bamboo Bloom Handpaints in Mochi)
  • Cream colored yarn (I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Recycled in Cream)
  • Gentle Surf Buttons in a Bottle
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Size J/6mm crochet hook (optional)

Directions:

Wrap the multicolored yarn around the larger wreath. You can either do a straight wrap or crochet a braid around it like I did—there are plenty of YouTube video tutorials. I used this one by Yarn and Chai.

Wrap the cream colored yarn around the smaller wreath.

Glue buttons onto the smaller wreath. I put glue on the button itself and then placed it on the wreath. You can go for full coverage or partial like I did.

When the glue is dry, attach the two wreath forms by tying a loop of the cream colored yarn around them both, tying it off tightly and cutting off the excess.

Enjoy your cheerful new summer button layered wreath! This is an indoor wreath that will brighten up any space.
