Embellished Valentine’s Hoop

I’ve said it before, but I’m far more on the cutesy side of Valentine’s Day than I am on the romantic side. I don’t have a lot of Valentine’s-ish supplies in my stash, which is kinda weird considering how much I collect for other holidays. This is another great reason to get the BGM Box–it gives you fun crafting options and inspiration for holidays and seasons you might not love otherwise. This easy embellished Valentine’s hoop is a fun template for Valentine’s crafting.

This tutorial can be done with any fabric–I used fabric that was in my stash. I say it every year, but I’m really trying to make an effort to use as much of what I already have that I can. Find Valentine’s fabric that has a picture or design you like.

Paint the outer hoop red.

While the paint is drying, trace the shape of the inner hoop on the inside onto the felt with a pen. Cut it out.

Place the background fabric into the hoop once it’s dry.

Fussy cut the design you’ve chosen (all this means is cut out the design from the bigger piece of fabric).

Stitch the design onto the fabric using simple stitches.

If there are obvious heart shapes in your design, stitch the heart buttons on top.

Glue Jewelz and stitch sequins onto the hoop until you’re happy with it.

Turn the hoop over and place the piece of felt inside. (There are so many ways to finish a hoop–this is a quick and easy option but you can obviously use any method you want.)

Trim the fabric so that you have just enough to tuck inside. Glue the fabric to the inside of the hoop.

Valentine’s Day may not be my thing, but this embellished Valentine’s hoop is super cute and I can imagine the possibilities using different fabrics. Have fun creating!
