Directions:

Pick out three colors of felt for each button. I cut them into small enough pieces to work with but big enough so I had extra (how’s that for exact measurements?!).

Sew or glue each button onto the top piece of felt. I’m going to use the skull brooch as my example but will talk about differences in the brooches as I get to each part. Cut around the button in the shape that you want.

Cut out the next piece of felt in a bigger size. Choose what “novelty” you’re going to use between these two layers. I stitched pom pom trim between layers on the skull, looped ribbon the jack-o-lantern, added buttons to a couple, and stitched little pieces of ribbon poking out on the haunted house. Stitch or glue the pieces together.

Cut out the last layer of felt–it should be the biggest. Stitch or glue the pin back into the center.

Stitch or glue the back layer onto the pieces you’ve already completed.

Add any final touches–I felt like the pumpkin needed a bit more so glued on some Sparkletz.

A side note–I stitched everything except for flatback pieces.

I had so much fun making these button and felt Halloween brooches. Mixing and matching and coming up with tweaks is one of my favorite ways to craft. As a bonus, these brooches can easily be made into ornaments or magnets–they’re so versatile. I can’t choose a favorite!
