Loopy Yarn Christmas Tree

I never get tired of wrapping yarn around things–it’s relaxing and you end up with a cute craft. This loopy yarn Christmas tree is no exception. The loops add great texture to the tree and because I’m me, twinkling lights are, of course, included. This tree can be kept simple (as I did) or you can add garland or small berries or ornaments to really get into the spirit.

Instructions:

Remove the plastic wrapping from the foam cone (I feel like this is obvious, but you never know!)

Add a thin line of glue to the bottom edge of the foam cone and press the yarn on top. Repeat this around the base of the cone. I made sure that the main piece of yarn is the piece that is pressed to the foam cone and not the pieces that hang off (the loops). Once you have gone around the cone once, repeat until the entire cone is covered. Once you have done a few times around the wreath you don’t have to glue each time you wrap. I continued to glue as I wanted to make sure that I was getting the main yarn piece directly on the foam cone and not the pieces that hang off but that is optional. Ultimately you just want to make sure that the loops hang over the row below them (I hope this makes sense!!).

At the top add some hot glue to the top a make sure the top is covered with yarn. Once completely wrapped, add the fairy lights. I used two packages of the fairly lights tucking the wire under the loopy yarn pieces that hang down.

A quick alternative if you don’t want to glue is to use straight pins to attach the yarn to the foam cone.

I love how cute this loopy yarn Christmas tree turned out. The loops and color changes on the yarn make for a great tree and the fairy lights add that little bit extra.
