Mixed Media Halloween Cat
I have discovered that I really enjoy relaxing to a mixed media project. I’m still learning a lot about it, but I love that I can just play around and let a piece come together. When my brain isn’t working, I can pull out a project and get messy. I’ve had all of my Halloween supplies out lately and when I needed to pause on other projects, I worked on my Mixed Media Halloween Cat.

By now, you know my love of Blitsy. They recently had a sale with paper mache animals and I immediately snapped a few up, including this cat.
I started by painting the cat black with patches of purple.
That tail was just calling for some yarn wrapping, so I grabbed some Halloween yarn, covered the tail in decoupage, and wrapped.
You know glitter would make an appearance! I covered the ears in decoupage, sprinkled orange glitter, let it dry, and put on a topcoat. Sparkly!
After that, it was just playing and adding more elements. I found some black lace and a tiny bat, so I made my cat a collar. I played around with some Metallic Lustre to add some more color and shimmer. Some sticker embellishments took care of eyes. My favorite part, though, are the whiskers. I took a piece of the same yarn I used for the tail and covered it in decoupage to stiffen it.
When the yarn was dry and stiff, I cut it into whisker sized pieces. I then took a straight pin and pushed it through the yarn.
I pushed the pin into the cat’s face where I wanted the whisker to be.
When all of the whiskers were in place, I dabbed the pin heads with black paint.
My Mixed Media Halloween Cat is a fun addition to our Halloween decor. He’s currently presiding over our living room. I love that he’s perfectly imperfect and I had nothing but fun while making him. (Shelf from Decor Steals.)
