Patriotic Felt Heart Ornaments
I don’t know what it is about warm weather that makes people feel more patriotic. It’s more obvious to me in the States because summer starts with Memorial Day, includes the Fourth of July, and ends with Labor Day (roughly), but I’ve seen it in the other places I’ve lived, too. Scott and I have now lived in three countries that call red, white, and blue their own (New Zealand, USA, and the UK) and I love being able to create something that could be called patriotic for all three. These Patriotic Felt Heart Ornaments are a fun make for anyone who has a soft spot for red, white, and blue–no matter where in the world you may be.

Just click the link to the Patriotic Felt Heart Ornaments design in the supply list. It will take you straight to Design Space and is ready to cut. Load your Maker with the rotary blade (I prefer it for most felt cuts) and the washable fabric pen. Cut out your hearts.
Stitch the small hearts onto the white. I used a chain stitch.
Using a blanket stitch, attach the back piece to the white.
When you’re most of the way around the heart, add some fluff (don’t overstuff–you want it puffy, but not bursting).
Put the loop part of the tassel inside the hearts at the bottom point, making sure it’s secured as you finish stitching.
I finished my Patriotic Felt Heart Ornaments with a simple loop through the top and hung them from one of the many sticks my girls bring home. They’re a fun addition to our summer decor and can be called patriotic in any of the countries we’ve called home.
