Blue and Gold Holiday Wreath

My holiday decorating has been all over the place these last few years and I’ve given up trying to refine it. It’s pretty freeing to allow myself to make things with pieces I’m drawn to. These blue poinsettias were exactly that–they didn’t fit a particular aesthetic, but I wanted to use them in something. This easy blue and gold holiday wreath is fun, a bit unusual, works for a variety of holidays, and can stay up all winter long.

Supplies:

  • 18 inch grapevine wreath – any craft store but joann’s usually has them on sale
  • gold pampas grass- Michaels
  • gold holly berry stem- Michaels
  • navy poinsettia floral- I used 3 of them and got them from Michaels
  • hot glue gun
  • wire cutters

Instructions:

Start by cutting off the stems of the poinsettia flowers, leaving only about an inch.

Add some hot glue to each stem and press between the grapevines to secure into place.

The pampas grass I used was easy to pull off the main stem–if yours isn’t, use wire cutters. You’re after the individual stems, not the whole bunch. Add some hot glue to the stem to secure in place underneath the poinsettia flowers.

Using the wire cutters, cut sections of the holly berries from the main stem. Add some hot glue to the stems and place them on the pampas grass.

This blue and gold holiday wreath doesn’t take long to make, but does make a bit of a glitter mess (not too bad, but just a warning!).

If you want to go even bigger, add more poinsettias, pampas, and berries and fill the wreath. I like a bit of the grapevine to show, but it’s an easy wreath to cover if you don’t. Another alternative would be to buy a gold grapevine wreath if you can find one, or spray paint a natural one.
