Front Door Fun
I recently had to take all of the pictures off my phone because it was completely full. Scott sighs at me a lot because I don’t see anything wrong with having 5,000 pictures at my fingertips. Something always goes wrong when I empty my phone onto my computer, so I put it off as long as possible. Technology and I don’t tend to get along most days. Anyway, I was watching the pictures scroll by this past time and realized that I had a ton of pictures that had our front door in it. One of my favorite projects last year was painting our door with Modern Masters (in Calm), and while I knew I loved it at the time, I had no idea just how much until I was looking at the sheer number of pictures I had of it.
Our front door is where we take our first day of school pictures and so many other shots. It sounds so basic, but it’s the entrance to our house. I wanted it to be fun and welcoming and a reflection of us and the home we’re going for. Our front door has now been through every kind of weather and decoration that could be thrown at it, and I couldn’t love it more.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen the saga of the frozen pumpkin, wreath pictures, and lots of Gould Girls in front of our door. I often take my attempts at style shots in front. I hadn’t quite realized just how much I used it.
This is just a small sampling of the plethora of pictures (say that three times fast!) I found in just one offloading of my phone. I love being told how much someone loves our door. I hadn’t realized just how big a deal it was to have a front door I was happy with.
We have so many projects in the works around the rest of the house, but our front door gives me the warm fuzzies every time I see it. And I see it a lot. I thought that painting our door would be fun–I didn’t realize just how big a deal it actually was. I’m looking forward to seeing years worth of first day of school pictures in front of our door. If I could offer up a quick project that will change the way you feel about your house, I’d tell you to paint your front door. You can look at our front door and get an idea of the kind of family who lives behind it, and that is all kinds of fun to me.
I LOVE your front door and it was so awesome seeing all the seasons represented. Fun post! 🙂

Such a great entrance! I kind of wish we could paint the door at our new place, but it’s such a great wood I don’t think I can do it 🙂
I love your front door, When you originally posted about painting your front door it motivated me to redo my front porch.
I figured out why you love it so much! It’s because it kind of looks like a TARDIS!! #geeklove
